Discovery Kids Preschool is a fun and creative place for children to learn and grow! We base our lesson plans on The Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies Inc. Our half-day program includes creative learning, music & movement, pre-writing & writing, reading readiness, arts & crafts, centers, devotions and more. Our Healthy Living class introduces healthy habits to children through active play, interactive lessons and healthy cooking activities. Regularly scheduled outings to the Y pool and field trips (ages 3 & 4) add adventure to the program!

Staff
Our preschool teachers are required to have first aid and CPR certifications as well as several hours of annual preschool training. Each student receives a balance of one-on-one attention and peer interaction for age-appropriate development. We maintain a 1:7 (or better) staff-to-child ratio for this age group. YMCA Preschool is a fun way for kids to make friends, gain independence and develop social skills.

Schedule
Our teacher workdays align with those of the Wake County Public School System; we use those days for staff meetings, trainings, and parent/teacher conferences. These days may be used as make-up days for the students if needed for classes cancelled due to inclement weather. Additionally, we follow the Wake County Public School’s age requirements for class eligibility; your child must be the appropriate age for his/her class on or by Aug. 31, 2012.

Registration:	Registration for currently enrolled families: Wed., Feb. 1 and Thurs., Feb. 2 starting at 11 a.m. at the North Raleigh Church of the Nazarene Registration for members and the public: Begins on Wed., Feb. 15 at the A.E. Finley Y Welcome Center
